Translating Hairstylist Lingo – What Will My Hair Look Like If My Stylist Does That?

Good communication between you and your stylist will make both of you happier. You’ll have fewer bad hair days and she’ll have more satisfied clients. But not every hair stylist knows how to translate hairspeak into plain English (sorry, I can’t help you with other languages).
So, you must ask, ask and ask again for your hairstylist to explain what she’s doing to your hair, why she thinks it’s a good idea, and how you can recreate the look at home. To keep her from thinking you’re a total n00b, print this guide to hairspeak out and review it before you go into the hair salon.
When your hairstylist says she’d like to give you a style that’s:
CHOPPY
A choppy style has various lengths usually done with a razor.
Thick, straight hair cut short is the typical choppy hairstyle but mid-length hair can go choppy too. You’ll need regular trims since letting a choppy hairstyle grow out looks ragged. It’s a good way to cut back on the blow drier time for thick hair and gives you a young, fun look.
BEACHY
She means that wind-tousled, wavy look that swimmers or surfers (get it, beach dwellers?) may have.
If your hair has a bit of a natural wave and is reasonably thick, this fairly low maintenance look could work for you. You’ll let it dry without heat and apply a spray or gel.
It’s usually an above the shoulder hairstyle since it tends to just look messy with longer hair.
Products you’ll need:
oVolumizing spray
oStraightening balm (if you have thick, course hair)
oHair dryer
oA 1-inch barrel curling iron
oPonytail holder and bobby pins
oShine serum
oHairspray
oSaltwater spray
OVERDIRECTION
Isn’t a cut it’s a blowdrying technique.  By blowing out your hair to the opposite side and then flipping it over on the part side, you get more volume. At home, sitting down and flipping your hair over while drying some of the underside can get you this effect.
PIECEY
Another after effect. Your hairstylist will use wax or hair gel to stick the ends together and then use her fingers to break your hair up into 1-3 inch sections. It’s often used on a choppy short cut to create texture.
STRUCTURE
Here she’s talking about giving you a geometric cut like a bob. You’ll need the right size roller brush to recreate the smooth finish at home.
TEXTURIZING
Can be used on curly hair to make it smoother or on flat hair to make it look fuller! Texturizing curly hair involves cutting diagonally. and involves layers for naturally flat hair.
THINNING OUT
To remove some of the bulk from thick hair, a razor or thinning shears are used. Starting about an inch from the scalp and going to the ends. You usually have to ask for this and your stylist should refuse if you have fine, dry or damaged hair as it will produce massive frizzies.
GIVE YOUR HAIR MOVEMENT
When you stylist says she wants to give your hair some movement, she’s usually talking about adding layers to mid-length hair to make it lighter and allow it to swing and bounce. The layers shouldn’t start above your ears. This cut allows you to wear your hair down without it looking flat. If you tell your stylist you want to, she can start the layers low enough for you to pull your hair into a ponytail.

Powerful Teen Weight Loss Tips

Teen weight loss tips need to be inspiring and motivating and of course, achievable so that the teenager in question, sticks to their plan and even has fun with it. If you are planning some teen weight loss tips for someone within your family, really consider their personalities prior to writing a fitness plan and think about how they handle challenges and of course, whether they might give in a little too easily.
Knowing someone really well can help when scheduling a new health regime because it can be made much more personalised and adapted to suit. Teen weight loss tips must be written in a way that the teenager can grasp the context of the message, they must be written in a way that talks to them and not at, and they should be written in a supportive manner so that the messages do not sound condescending in any way.
If your teen has a close friend that they confide in and spend a lot of time with, it might be an idea to incorporate their help or assistance within your schedule as sharing a health and fitness schedule would be much more fun. To write powerful teen weight loss tips that work, remember, that it is important that you speak their language.
Here are some teen weight loss tips to start you off:
1. Make if fun. Whilst changing eating habits so that they are much healthier is a serious subject, your teenager just wants to achieve their goals and get on with their life. Incorporate a little fun into the plan so that the schedule serves to motivate and not dictate. Get them to join a salsa class or go ice-skating for example; they don’t have to work out in a gym.
2. Boost their self-esteem whenever possible. Within your schedule should be mini challenges that will leave them feeling good about themselves. If you can make their weight loss program enjoyable, it will help them to stick with it.
3. Be understanding if they give in to temptation once in a while. They will probably feel a little guilty at their loss of control, so be supportive and get them back on track again.
4. Spend some time together working out menus. Discuss nutrients so that they understand what to look for in food and what to avoid. Above all, let them participate and make choices.
5. Set manageable goals for them and watch them grow in confidence and pride as well as reduce in size.
Match the teen weight loss tips to the individual and you will be onto a winner, just remember that it should never become a battle because learning to eat healthily is an important part of growing up.…

Hair Care Tips For Summer

The summer immediately draws our attention towards haircare. The summer sun imparts an adverse effect on hair by damaging the hair cuticles thereby posing numerous hair problems like frizziness, dry scalp, dandruff, dust, split ends etc. Extra attention should be paid during summers as our tresses require more care in summers.
*During the summer our scalp becomes dry. Our hair loses the moisture & becomes fragile & breaks. “Sebum” the natural scalp oil secreted by the sebaceous gland which moisturizes the scalp is decreased during summers. So do not shampoos regularly as this will remove moisture & will make them hard & brittle. Use moisturizing & gentle shampoo formulas like ‘Phytonectar, Phytojoba.’
*If you have split ends & a frizzy problem, then trim the damaged hair section frequently. Keep a short hair style during summers which will let you freak out in the sun.
*The application of SP30 protective sunscreen which is good for the skin is safe for the hairs, to prevent hair damage in the direct sunlight.
*Long hair need extra care. Do wear a scarf, hat or take an umbrella while going out in summers. This will protect your hair from the harmful ultraviolet rays of sun.
*The hot wind blows causes the dust problem & produces dandruff. A regular head bath with cold water, removes the accumulated dust.
*You can rub lemon on your scalp or apply coconut oil mixed with camphor ingredients or use gooseberry oil to get rid off the dandruff.
*Make plat or knot your hairs to avoid total exposure to sun thereby avoiding frizzy hairs & hair tangle.
*Avoid using dryers, hot iron, straighter & curler during hot summers. Use natural air dry method whenever possible.
*Restrict the use of colour, bleach & artificial hair products as they contain alcohol which dries your hair to a great extent. Use of herbal & natural hair products is advisable like ‘Jojoba oil, Amla oil’. They regain the deprived hair moisture, repair the damaged hair & increase the scalp circulation thereby increasing the hair growth.
*Deep condition your hair after every wash.
*Application of Henna mixed with reetha & egg for 1 hour gives a good hair conditioning as well as cooling effect to the scalp.
*Do oil massage twice a week. Choose oil according to hair texture e.g:
– For fine & thin hairs, use lighter oil like almond or sesame oil.
– For coarse & thick hairs, use heavier oil like olive or coconut oil.
– For extremely damaged hairs use jojoba oil.
*Dink plenty of water during the summer. This will hydrate your system & provide proper health to your tresses.
*Diet should include amla & amla products.
*Before going for swimming dampen your hair to reduce chlorinated water absorption. Do go for a head wash to remove chlorine contents with a good shampoo.…

3 Things That Will Not Help You Lose Weight Rapidly and Safely

You probably have seen those wonder drugs advertisements promising you weight loss of more than two pounds in a week without the need to exercise. Are you a victim of misleading rapid weight loss methods? Read on and find out if you are:
Diet Pills
If you ever took diet pills, you probably saw the effects of rapid weight loss on the scales but somehow, you felt and even looked the same way. The only change you felt was that you had less energy to do your usual activities. Once you discontinued the pills, you ballooned back to your old weight just as easily as you lost the pounds. The reason is that the substances in the diet pills you took only caused you to dehydrate; they did not actually remove the unnecessary fat that needed to be removed. Once you regained the lost water, you went back to where you started.
Fast Track Diets
A fast track diet is a diet that seems convincing, but very untrue with its logic. The common fast track diet is one that makes you eat less or eat only a single kind of food for a set period of time — for instance, you are instructed to eat only bananas for a few weeks or take only cucumbers or water just to ease your hunger. This kind of diet only endangers your health.
A proper diet is composed of many kinds of food served in balanced portions. The body needs a lot of nutrients from a lot of sources. The best fast track diet programs are the ones that regulate your calorie intake based on your lifestyle and will not make you feel deprived of food. A diet is more realistic if it says that you should eat often, but less in terms of portions. This way you will not have hunger pangs that will only have you binge-eating after. This of course should be complemented with exercises to achieve rapid weight loss.
Slimming Soap
This is a great idea, only if the slimming soap weighed at least 5 pounds, as you can get a good workout as you scrub yourself clean. Picking up the soap now and then would be equivalent to some form of weight training. Seriously, though, how can slimming soaps magically extract the excess fat from your body from without and not from within?
Keep in mind, proper food intake complemented by sweaty exercises are the routes taken to arrive at a slimmer body. You can keep it that way for as long as you like or slack off a little from time to time. Once you become used to managing your weight through proper diet and exercise, you won’t even have the time of day to even read the hype about those ridiculous methods or products.…

Shorten Your Workout But Still Get The Results

Fitness can elude many people with good intentions. There is a lot of information out there about what fitness is and how to use it to your advantage, when trying to get in shape and lose weight. The following information will start to put some of that into perspective.

Weight training is important to anyone trying to keep or become physically fit. Even if you’re only trying to improve your cardiovascular performance, muscle will make all exercise easier. Also, the body burns calories at a faster pace when there is an abundance of muscle. Every workout routine should include some muscle training.

A great way to help you get fit is to start running. Compared to other exercises like the stationary bike or the elliptical, running tends to burn far more calories. You can run on a treadmill or on a track if you can find one. Avoid running on concrete though.

As you grow older, it is imperative to exercise the brain, as well as your body, to keep both fit. Playing word games and memory exercises will improve the mind and stave off dementia or other memory illnesses like Alzheimer’s disease. For example, while walking, take notice of five blue objects and when you have returned home, try to recall them.

Fitness

An important fitness tip to remember is that you can’t spot train. Spot training involves focusing on one specific body part and attempting to lose weight in only that area. This is impossible to do. In order to lose body fat in an area, you have to lose overall body fat.

Do not break the bank on a diet and fitness plan that has not been proven to work. Find the most cost effective diet and fitness plan that will fit into your lifestyle and your needs. Do a great deal of research before joining any diet or fitness club, to be sure that you are not getting ripped off.

Good Health

Relaxation is key to keeping good health and fitness. Sure you might exercise and eat healthy and maintain all of those things to keep your nice figure, but if you don’t give your mind and body a rest, it will become unhealthy and other things will begin to fail as well. A massage is a great way to relax and also give your body and muscles the reward they deserve for following such a strict regimen.

Check that a fitness club pays attention to a member’s health conditions. When choosing the right fitness club, be sure that they have a good health screening procedure in place. New members should always be screened for heart disease, and at least one member of staff should be CPR certified. There should also be an emergency response plan in place in case of illness or injury.

Now that you have seen what you can do in your own life to increase your fitness level, get in shape and finally lose some of that weight, it will be easier to put it into practice. Lack of knowledge can be our biggest deterrent, when it comes do doing something we know is good for us.…

How To Live A Fulfilling Life With Diabetes

Diabetes can sound like a scary disease but in fact it is a manageable condition that in some cases can be reversed. Once you know how diabetes works and what you can do to manage it, it is not so scary. This article can help to educate you and give you the confidence to deal with it.

If your parent has been diagnosed with Type II Diabetes, it is important that you help them in changing their diet and exercise rituals. Support them by bringing them healthy treats, like fruit salad, instead of cakes or cookies. When you visit their house, why not go for a long walk with them?

Diabetic children will find temptation around every corner, so it is up to you as their parent to give them something else to focus on. For example, the kids at school would offer my daughter candy, so we paid her for the candies she brought home. She could then use the money to buy a toy or clothing that she wanted.

Hey there, Diabetics! Have you ever thought of turning your burger inside out? Well, not exactly, but putting the lettuce on the outside will get rid of that carbohydrate-laced bun and increase the amount of vegetables you’re eating. Replace the hamburger with a lentil patty for an even healthier treat!

Diabetics should never EVER skip a meal! If you’ve planned to eat, then you must eat, or else your medication can drop your blood sugar so low you end up getting very sick. At least have a drink of juice or milk and some of your food so that your body gets a boost of energy.

Make sure to take your diabetes medications exactly as directed. You are NOT a doctor, nor is anyone else giving you advice other than your physician. They tell you how often to take your prescriptions and how much you should take at a time because they know, so follow their directions.

It is important that you eat a lot of fiber in order to prevent diabetes. Fiber helps to prevent diabetes by stabilizing your blood glucose levels. You can get fiber from certain foods such as whole grains, nuts, beans, seeds, fruits and vegetables. You can also take a fiber supplement.

Healthier

If you want to eat healthier to help overcome your Diabetes, but you just can’t stomach fish without some pops of flavor on it, try capers! They’re like olives in their flavor, but smaller and zestier. You can sprinkle them on any type of fish, I like to also add some slices of Spanish onion, and they take the place of sauce.

Well, not exactly, but putting the lettuce on the outside will get rid of that carbohydrate-laced bun and increase the amount of vegetables you’re eating. As already covered above, diabetes does not have to be a horrible life sentence. It is manageable and usually only requires a few life style changes. By using the article above to educate yourself you may find that once you understand diabetes that you can manage it and it will not rule your life.…
